LiVE Energy Minerals Corp. ("LiVE") holds title to the McDermitt Lithium East Project through its wholly owned subsidiary Lithium Valley Holding Corp. The Property is comprised of 315 lode claims and over 6,300 Acres covering lithium bearing sediments, located in the McDermitt Caldera, Humboldt County, Nevada.

Lithium in Nevada, USA

The McDermitt Caldera is potentially the largest source of lithium clays in the world. Formed from a super-volcano it now hosts some of the largest lithium deposits in the USA including the Tacker Pass project in the south of the Caldera.

Geology

The McDermitt Lithium East Project is located within an extinct 40x30 km supervolcano named McDermitt Caldera, which was formed approximately 16.3 million years ago (Ma) as part of a hotspot currently underneath the Yellowstone Plateau.

 

Following an initial eruption and concurrent collapse of the McDermitt Caldera, a large lake formed in the caldera basin. This lake water was extremely enriched in lithium and resulted in the accumulation of lithium-rich clays.

Late volcanic activity uplifted the caldera, draining the lake and bringing the lithium-rich moat sediments to the surface resulting in the near-surface lithium present on the McDermitt Lithium East Project.

Lithium in the sediments

Surface sampling at the McDermitt Lithium East Project by LiVE Energy Minerals Corp has identified 1,907 PPM Li (lithium) present near surface. 

Sampling is limited by wind blown sediments and post lake sediments forming a thin blanket over the lithium bearing sediments, and more rigorous sampling techniques  such as drilling must be undertaken in order to reach the probable higher grades of lithium in clays in the basal layers of the Caldera Lake sediments.

LiVE Energy Minerals (Previously Gold Tree Resources) completed a 43-101 technical report on the McDermitt Lithium East Project which indicates high potential for the project to host large amounts of lithium bearing sediments. The 43-101 report can be found on SEDAR or by clicking the link below.
